Removing Smaller Coffee Stains

Hi Francine,

My family is a group of die hard coffee drinkers. We're never seen without a cup. We go through several pots a day! So, you can imagine that little drips of coffee have a habit of appearing on the carpets, couches and even the beds. What would you recommend for cleaning these smaller stains that I can take care of myself?

Coffee is one of those universal, simple pleasures that can really make your day. Those dark little droplets that make surprise appearances on your carpet and furniture are a different story. Our Dry Foam method is quick, easy and efficient in restoring your carpets, upholstery and furniture to their unstained selves.

While it's always best to leave the stain cleaning to the professionals, a number of methods can be used to clean up smaller stains like, say, droplets of coffee. Usually involving everyday household items that you already have in your home.

One such method is to stir baking soda and water into a thick paste and apply it to the affected area. Let it dry over the course of half an hour. Once dry, simply vacuum the paste from your carpet or furniture. It's a simple, but not always effective way of removing smaller stains.

For lingering stains, rub white shaving cream into the affected area, let sit for 30 minutes. Dab area with a wet cloth, then let the area air dry. Remember, only use white shaving cream and never shave gels. Before trying out this method on carpets/furniture, test shaving cream on a less visible area – carpeting covered by furniture or the bottom side of a couch cushion, for example – to ensure your brand of cream doesn't leave additional stains.

There's a handful of cleaning techniques you can use with products you already have handy in your own home, but results will vary. For stains both big and small, you should always rely on the professional touch with Sparkling Clean Services. Our winning Dry Foam cleaning method can tackle any kind of stain.
